OUR CURRENT CURRICULUM INCLUDES A VARIETY OF ACTING SKILLS THAT OUR STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN OVER THE COURSE OF EVERY SEMESTER

AUDITION TECHNIQUE

Students learn how to be prepared for auditions and learn about every stage of the audition process. Students learn how to get the Audition opportunity, how to audition for film, TV, commercials, and for theater. Students learn how to calm their nerves during the audition. They also learn how to do cold reading in the audition when the casting director gives them a last minute script. Students learn what they need in order to audition, what to expect at an audition, how to dress for an audition, how to memorize lines for an audition,  how to execute the audition memorably, and what to do after the audition! Students learn that the first impression is the most important one, as well as how to make a great first impression in front of a casting director! Students learn to stand out in every audition opportunity. We practice every step of the audition process, starting from the moment they get their audition notice and script/sides/copy. They learn different types of auditions (for tv, film, theater, tv commercial, school production, etc); and how they differ from each other. They learn key factors that make a difference in an audition... factors that go beyond the performance of their scene. Students will learn about audition opportunities once they are prepared for them.

ACTING FOR FILM
AND TV / ON-CAMERA ACTING

Students learn to act for film and TV. They dive into a deep understanding of emotional work, vocal quality, physicality, and making strong choices when they are performing a scene. They get on-camera skills while working on comedy scenes, drama scenes, and other genres. Students get to work with real scripts from the most popular TV shows and movies. We work with different acting techniques so our students become well rounded actors. They also learn to use the cold reading technique, as well as on scene study. Our focus is on students improving their audition skills and their on set performances. They have a fun time acting on-camera while they learn to connect with their reader. Every student gains individual feedback, redirection, and coaching in order to improve their scene work. We cover technical aspects necessary to know for on-camera work (commercials, film, tv, etc.) Through analysis of the character and breakdown of the scene, they build a deep character and learn to take re-direction. As mentioned before, they learn how to use their body, voice, and face to create a real and believable character. They also learn to approach scenes in different ways, as well as how to use props. Actors will learn to use even their own real emotions and will learn to react and to be active listeners in their scenes, while they use their inner monologue.

IMPROVISATION

Improvisation classes are a great way to develop communication skills, teamwork skills, creative problem solving skills, listening skills, and to boost your confidence. Students learn to be bold, spontaneous, to discover their own power, to be agile, and to enhance their creativity and curiosity. They learn how to carry themselves and to be natural in their acting while making friendships and gaining the camaraderie that comes from these games and exercises. Improvisation classes are something useful for every age group. Improv helps students take more risks in their acting choices, and they become more mindful and present. Through a series of exercises conducted in pairs and groups, the students explore a character in a specific situation and develop their actions and reactions. They learn to use their physicality and to create a more interesting performance. Actors who can improvise are the most valued actors on set because they complete every take regardless of if they forgot a line of the script or if they made a mistake. The skills you get with our Improvisation classes can be used not only in pursuing an acting career, but also in your daily life in the different situations that you might experience in school, work, friends, interviews, extracurricular activities etc. Students obtain life skills that they may always apply.

ACTING FOR TV COMMERCIALS

Many A-list actors started their acting career in TV commercials. Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey, and Cameron Diaz, to name a few, are examples of famous actors that began their acting careers doing TV commercials for food, cell phones, etc. Acting for commercials requires a specific set of skills. The main objective of a commercial is to sell a product to the audience. Casting directors cast actors not only for their acting skills, but for their “personalities”. Casting directors will cast the actor that will be able to sell the product, and someone that can be memorable, relatable and real. Students will work on scripted material and will explore the elements of the auditioning process and technique specifically for the commercial industry. We also focus on improvisation skills for commercial auditions, since it’s a crucial skill needed to book a commercial. The students gain confidence to perform in front of the camera and learn the different types of commercials they could audition for. They also learn about commercial headshots, on set etiquette, and how to make a great impression on set.

ACTING FOR THE STAGE, LEARN MONOLOGUES PERFORMANCES, & VOICE OVER

An important part of our program is Acting for theatre. Students learn the difference between acting for the screen and acting on a stage. They learn stage movement, blocking, voice projection, volume, facial expressions, and body gestures. Monologues are used on stage, in television, and in films, and across all genres. They are often requested for theatre auditions. Characters express feelings and thoughts through monologues, which represent the most important words of a scene. Students learn to deliver a monologue while engaging their audience. They learn to make sure every word they say is valuable and genuine. Monologue performances are a great tool for our students to build confidence, to explore a character, and to develop their acting technique.

Voice Over acting is when the actor uses his voice to entertain, narrate or sell a product for commercials, cartoon tv shows, anime, video games, narration, dubbing, audiobooks or educational content. The students learn to develop their voice acting skills through recording sessions. The students learn to deliver lines properly, depending on the type of voice project. They learn to change inflections, use different tones, enunciate clearly, and breathe while they are delivering their lines.

PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS

Public speaking skills and communications skills are critical factors for the future success of an individual, regardless of their future profession. Favorable outcomes in everyday life depend upon our ability to communicate. Being able to speak well in public is a skill that will be helpful in every aspect of an individual’s life. It could be at work, school, or in your personal life. Public speaking skills help the students make connections with people in different ways, exude confidence, and to become better listeners. Students learn to control their nerves and to feel confident and calm while they speak to a group of people. They learn to be present, make connection with their audience, and to improve their story telling skills. We use communication skills and confidence building exercises to bring out the star potential inside of our students. They learn effective communication,  presentation skills, body language, voice modulation, fluency, projection, inflection, overcoming fear, audience engagement, nervousness management, and the basics of speech preparation. Students develop basic skills of presence, confidence in their own skin, and learn to deliver a persuasive message. Their confidence will rise enormously and they will transform their overall personality. We encourage them to make strong choices, to take risks on the stage, and to become the best version of themselves. Our students learn they can be the confident individuals they want to be!
